Allan H. Adams –
I ordered this Travelpro Maxlite 5 Softside suitcase on a Friday afternoon. It arrived the very next day – Saturday – just after 1:00 PM. Wow! Amazon Prime membership at its best. Another superlative Amazon shopping experience.
The suitcase itself is a brilliant piece of luggage being beautifully designed, solidly constructed and expertly finished. There are no discernable flaws that I could find in any part of this bag. None at all.
The interior is remarkably roomy for a carry on roller bag. Helpfully, there are two hold down straps to secure one’s packed belongings. In addition, there are a couple of small pockets on the inside to place smaller individual items.
On the front flap, there are a two additional zippered pockets. One of these is larger and expandable while the smaller one is suitable for documents and such like. The solidly constructed aluminium handle extends to make this a true roller bag. The black exterior fabric is cobbled, thick and feels very durable indeed.
A distinct advantage to this model over the similar sized Travelpro carry on suitcase with four (4) roller wheels is that the slightly shorter dimensions of this model are likely to make it easier to store in an overhead bin. I say this because the two wheels of this model are tucked more closely into the base of the bag. There is also less risk of one of the more exposed free spinning wheels of the four wheeled model getting caught and torn off while placing or removing it in the bin. Otherwise, dimensionally, the two bags are identical.
Lastly, there are two substantial rubber or plastic tips affixed to the base opposite the rear wheels to aid in keeping the bag upright when not in motion.
Altogether, this seems to be a splendid pick from the range of available choices on the Amazon website. While a little more expensive perhaps than others, the price appears to be entirely justified by the quality of the suitcase.
We’ll see how it actually holds up on a flight (or many!), but all the signs point to the start of a long and happy relationship.

I bought this after belatedly realising that airlines now allow larger in-cabin bags than the old TravelPro I bought around 20 years ago. I’d been shoe-horning everything into a smaller space than necessary or omitting stuff. More fool me!
I’m not generally a brand loyalist but, after researching the alternatives, I plumped for another TravelPro not least because the old one is still in excellent condition, bar the knocks and bashes that some intense business travel has inflicted. They’re tough.
And in use, the MaxLite lives up to its name: despite being 25% bigger it’s clearly lighter than my old TravelPro, the wheels have rubber tyres so it’s quieter than the plastic ones, and they’re enclosed, so less likely to get damaged. You can thump this over pavements and it’ll still work.
One or two more external pockets would have been nice but other than that, it’s hard to fault.

I used this suitcase on two flights, one to Portugal with TAP and the other to St Lucia with Air Canada Rouge and it easily fit in the overhead baggage compartment, no waiting for baggage on arrival. It seems very well constructed no problems with the zippers or raising or lowering the handle.

This is a durable, lightweight suitcase with plenty of space. The wheels and handle are sturdy, one smooth roller, making it easy to navigate, and it fits all carry-on requirements for both domestic and international travel.
While I’ve noticed some loose threads over time, the overall quality is great. I have noticed some zipper teeth have become misaligned but they still zip no problem. This has made it through multiple domestic trips and four countries abroad. It can handle rocky cobblestone, uneven sidewalks, a little sand and plenty of dead runs to catch the flight, bus, or train I will say the interior color wasn’t quite what I was expecting with the blue and black checkered design, but it’s grown on me.
I got it on sale, the full price is a bit steep; however, the solid warranty and value make it a worthwhile purchase.

Cumple con las características de equipaje carry-on y tiene muy buen espacio para llevar ropa en un viaje de 5 o 6 días

Excellent carry on case, as you would expect from Travel Pro, however not quite the same robust quality as an older one I have.

After doing endless research for suitable luggage. These cases scored high on the list. Being a hard shell fan, I considered a change. I am so glad I did. They are so light and the wheels move effortlessly. I also agree that getting away from the clam shell, having the expandable option and TSA locks in a suitable location. All adds up to a very good product. Worth the money. Thank you Lucerne for all your help.

The advert for this case shows a combination lock this was not included on the piece of luggage I was sent.
Otherwise, it seems like a perfectly fine piece of luggage.

This 21″ size carry-on is becoming the accepted one. I needed a smaller size suitcase to travel to Canada. It still has plenty of room. The pull-behind style fits better in an over-the-head bin than the roll-about, yet it is still easy to use when walking. It rolls easily and is a good price. The handle is tall and pulls up easily I used my 24″ Travel Pro for over twenty years with no problems. It was the same style but much heavier. This is light and easy to put overhead. I bought another 24″ one for domestic flights.

Well made. A bit roomier than a standard ‘carry on’ case by virtue of having two wheels set into the bottom of the case, rather than the standard four wheels underneath. That gives you about an extra two inches of compartment space.
